Coaching Policies
Apostolate for Marital Intimacy, Inc.
Effective Date: September 1, 2025
Section I – Introduction
1. Preamble
Laudetur Jesus Christus! Welcome to coaching with the Apostolate for Marital Intimacy, Inc. (“AMI”). We are grateful that you have chosen to take this step in your journey of personal, relational, and spiritual growth. AMI’s mission is to provide faithful, compassionate, and practical support for individuals and couples who desire to deepen marital intimacy in harmony with the Catholic faith.
This document sets forth the current coaching policies of AMI. It is a living document, posted on AMI’s website. By signing up for coaching initially and each time you schedule a session, you affirm your agreement to the version of these policies then in effect.
Section II – Coaching Framework
2. Nature of Coaching
Coaching is a professional relationship focused on growth, clarity, and personal development. It is not therapy, counseling, confession, spiritual direction, medical treatment, or legal advice.
Although some AMI coaches may also be licensed professionals, they serve solely in a coaching capacity while providing services under AMI. Clients with mental, medical, or spiritual concerns are encouraged to seek the appropriate licensed or ecclesial support in addition to coaching.
3. Coaching Relationship
This agreement is between the client and AMI. Your assigned coach serves as a representative of the organization. Coaching may be conducted individually, as a couple, or in a group.
Either party may end the coaching relationship at any time.
Section III – Confidentiality and Communication
4. Confidentiality and Collaboration
All personal information shared in coaching is considered confidential, with the following exceptions:
Disclosure is required by law (including risk of harm to self or others, abuse, or neglect).
The client provides written permission to disclose information.
Relevant information may be shared internally among AMI coaches for supervision, consultation, or referrals in order to provide the highest standard of care.
In couples and group coaching, individual conversations are confidential unless permission is given to share. Information disclosed in joint sessions is considered shared and may be discussed with all participants.
AMI is not a HIPAA-covered entity. While AMI takes confidentiality seriously and upholds professional coaching ethics, records and communications are not protected under HIPAA regulations.
5. Technology and Communication
Sessions are normally conducted via Zoom. Scheduling and payments are handled through the Practice app. Additional communication may occur through Practice messaging or Google Voice.
Scheduling methods may vary by coach.
Section IV – Fees and Policies
6. Fees and Payment
Fees vary depending on the assigned coach, type of coaching, and package selected. Current rates are published in the online scheduler.
Payment may be made in full or in installments, depending on the package selected. Some packages may include resource access or messaging support, as arranged with your coach.
7. Refunds, Cancellations, and Expiration
There are no refunds for completed sessions.
Prepaid packages are non-refundable, though installment plans may be canceled at any time. If canceled, all unused sessions are forfeited.
Sessions may be canceled or rescheduled with at least twenty-four (24) hours’ notice. Missed sessions without proper notice are charged in full.
All unused package sessions expire one (1) year from the date of purchase unless extended at the sole discretion of the coach.
Section V – Client Commitments
8. Client Responsibilities
AMI coaching is most fruitful when clients embrace the following responsibilities:
Honesty and Openness: Share truthfully and be willing to confront difficult truths.
Engagement: Participate actively in sessions.
Follow-Through: Complete assignments or reflections between sessions.
Punctuality and Preparedness: Arrive on time and ensure technology is functional.
Respect: Treat coaches with respect and maintain appropriate professional boundaries.
Faith Alignment: Recognize that AMI coaching is grounded in Catholic teaching. Clients are not required to be Catholic but are expected to respect this perspective.
Confidentiality in Groups: In couples or group settings, honor the confidentiality of all participants.
Section VI – Disclaimers and Liability
9. No Guarantees and Liability
Coaching is a collaborative process, and outcomes depend on the client’s effort and openness. AMI makes no guarantees about specific results.
By participating in coaching, clients assume full responsibility for their decisions and actions. AMI and its coaches are not liable for:
Marital or relational decisions made by the client.
Outcomes related to sexual health or function.
Spiritual struggles or faith-related challenges.
Coaching is not a substitute for therapy, medical treatment, or sacramental pastoral care such as confession or spiritual direction.
Section VII – Legal Terms
10. Legal Terms
These policies are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or related to coaching shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, the matter shall be settled by final and binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in accordance with its applicable rules. Arbitration shall take place in St. Louis County, Missouri, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Neither AMI nor the client shall be liable for any delay or failure to perform due to causes beyond reasonable control, including acts of God, pandemics, military service, or service interruptions.
If any provision of this policy is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. This document supersedes all prior agreements and policies related to coaching.
Section VIII – Amendments
11. Amendments and Binding Version
AMI may amend these coaching policies at any time. The version posted on the AMI website is the binding version.
By scheduling sessions, clients affirm that they have reviewed and agree to the current AMI Coaching Policies.
